Jack Daniel’s – 70cl is a brand of Tennessee whiskey and the top-selling American whiskey in the world. It is produced in Lynchburg, Tennessee, by the Jack Daniel Distillery, which has been owned by the Brown–Forman Corporation since 1956. It markets the liquor simply as Tennessee whiskey rather than as Tennessee bourbon. Jack Daniel’s is one of the best-selling American whiskeys, it was established by Jack Daniel’s alongside a black slave named nearest green in 1886. It is produced at the Jack Daniel’s distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee, the oldest registered distillery in the United States. Jack Daniel’s whiskey is often compared to bourbon, although it could actually pass for a bourbon, the company prefers to market it as Tennessee whiskey, and unlike Bourbon, Jack Daniels is filtered through sugar maple charcoal and aged in large white oak barrels. Jack Daniels is made using iron-free cave spring water, corn, rye and malted barley; it is distilled in copper stills before it is filtered through 10 foot stacks of sugar maple charcoal, this process is called mellowing. The extra mellowing step is also called the Lincoln County Process, removes impurities and the taste of corn and differentiates it from bourbon.
